Souvenir Globe
Beneath this glass dome lie the memories of a lifetime: a wedding keepsake, a bonnet dated 1887, a letter from 1907, a high-heeled shoe from 1914, and a fan.
Evidence of joy, promises, shared stories, and moments to be remembered forever…
This souvenir globe, made of wood, glass, and fiber, is a 19th century tradition that was used to preserve significant mementos. Sort of a small personal museum, where objects of different kinds associated with a person’s life were amassed.
Like this globe, the Museum preserves a connection to the ordinary moments in the lives of those who shaped Montréal.
