Canadian Sport Series Postcard
A man is tossed into the air by his laughing companions on a winter day.
The iconic “bounce” reproduced on this postcard—first immortalized in 1886 by the Notman & Son studio—depicts a festive scene at the Montréal Snowshoe Club.
Toques, arrow sashes, high socks: at the turn of the 20th century, snowshoe clubs embodied a true Canadian winter identity—a way of being together, alive, outdoors!
Like these snowshoers who found joy in the very simple act of being together, the Museum—with its educational programs and free activities—also has a mission to bring people together, to share, and to offer everyone a common experience. A donation means choosing to ensure this collective experience continues.
